Quality Assurance Engineer

Your tasks

If you feel we are a fit, we are looking forward to welcoming you as a Quality Assurance Engineer in a permanent full-time position in our team at the GRAS head office in Cologne.

  • You will be designing and developing the QA management systems and tools and support the implementation of a Product/Application Lifecycle Management System
  • You will be assessing software quality by designing and implementing software testing processes
  • You will take ownership of code quality through exploratory and automated tests
  • You will hunt bugs, identify issues, report them, and see that they’re dealt with
  • You will assist in ongoing innovation and digitalisation projects

Main Responsibilities:

  • Build a Product/Application Lifecycle management system to support the delivery of high-quality software products
  • Review and analyse requirements, specifications, and technical design documents, providing timely feedback
  • Develop detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Prioritize and plan user acceptance testing activities
  • Play the role of test engineer: Design, develop, and execute automated tests
  • Identify and report issues found, then verify that issues are resolved
  • Perform regression testing

Your profile

  • University degree in IT, computer engineering, business management or another related field
  • Proven work experience in software quality assurance
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools and ALM/PLM platforms, e.g. Polarion, Jama Connect, JIRA
  • Keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence
  • Be willing to help your teammates, share your knowledge with them, and learn from them
  • Be open to receiving constructive feedback and turning it into process improvements
  • Excellent language skills in English (at least C1) is essential.
  • Good command of at least one basic programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, R) and DBMS (MySQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) is important.
  • Familiarity with Web development (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, jQuery, PHP, etc.), cloud computing, QA/SW testing, GIS or Android development is an advantage.
  • Experience in UML, use-case writing, and prototype design is an advantage.
