BACKGROUND
THIS IS S LOCAL POSITION
BACKGROUND:
The Program on African Protected areas & Conservation (Papaco) aims at improving the management and governance of protected areas in Africa and their positive results on biodiversity conservation. To achieve that, Papaco focuses on 3 complementary domains which are: equitable governance, efficient management and long-term sustainability of PAs. Working closely with the World Commission for protected Areas (WCPA), Papaco has 4 main work approaches:
Carry out various evaluations and studies (at site level, or at country or regional levels…) to provide relevant information to all stakeholders for better management and better governance,
Develop relevant tools for parks governance, management and monitoring, based on the methodologies elaborated with/by the WCPA (such as the Green List of PAs),
Build the capacities of parks managers and their partners in Africa on these methodologies and tools, through regional, national or local training programs on PA management and governance and through online courses (MOOCs).
Provide targeted technical support to duly selected sites/organizations where a good potential for improvement is detected (for instance to build their sustainability).
JOB DESCRIPTION
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The intern will assist the Papaco team in the development of 12 online courses in 2025 (6 in English, 6 in French). The courses are built on a custom-build of OpenEdx, and courses are available in French and in English.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Integrate the course content to OpenEdx using the platform tools and basic HTML/CSS
Assist team in creating clear and seamless slideshows to support the course content (Canva)
Review the final result and bring up potential issues
Be proactive in providing feedback on the final result
Research potential tools to improve the course development efficiency (AI)
Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
REQUIREMENTS
- POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education;
Second or third year student in the following fields: web design, web development, instructional design with a focus on the technical aspect, multimedia, digital communications.
Work Experience;
None
Language Proficiency;
English, French would be an asset but not required.
Competencies;
Good knowledge of HTML/CSS
Good knowledge of web best practices
